When considering
a cruise holiday, the first question to ask is whether you would
enjoy a large, ‘floating resort’ style modern cruise
ship or prefer a more traditional vessel.
Ships like those offered by Ocean Village,
Island Cruises and Thomson have a cosier feel than the state of
the art mega ships run by companies like Royal Caribbean Cruise
Lines, Princess Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Their prices
are generally lower; a key consideration for a family on a budget,
but the facilities will be more limited.
For those who prefer a more traditional,
British atmosphere, P&O Cruises and Fred Olsen Cruise Lines
offer the greatest choice of cruises sailing from the UK. P&O
passengers will find excellent children’s facilities on board
Aurora, Oriana and Oceana and for adult only cruises the Adonia
will be the one to choose. For a more international atmosphere you
can select from a host of itineraries from Royal Olympic, Costa
or Festival Cruises. They all operate fly-cruises sailing from the
heart of the Mediterranean and therefore offer more ports of call
than ex-UK cruises.
Some operators offer three or four
night mini cruises either from the UK or a Mediterranean port –
a great way to sample a cruise or a new ship. Or why not combine
a week afloat and a few days ashore. There are many varied locations
available for this cruise and stay holiday ranging from Las Vegas
to Majorca! |
